Coffee culture in Belfast has really taken off in recent years, the hipster joints with your favourite Guatemalan coffee beans are getting more and more popular. You are in luck if you get a window seat as it’s the perfect place to sit and watch passers-by. The coffee game in the city has seen the bar raised, with some of the best caffeinated goodness on offer in a number of emerging coffee and brunch spots.
Here’s some of the best coffeeshops we’ve been to in Belfast over the last few years:
This is a unique coffee shop just beside Queen’s University. Although it is small and only has a few tables, it does not lack in charm. It It serves up a delicious brunch but most importantly their coffee is out of this world. Make sure to get down early as weekend can be busy!
Brew and bake is a beautiful coffee and tea place situated on the Lisburn Road. They are known for their homemade treats- traybakes, cakes you name it. They are to die for! They serve up a great cup of coffee, and if you are a tea lover then this place is for you as they have an extensive tea menu on offer.
King of the, hipster coffee renaissance in Belfast, Root & Branch on Ormeau Road might be on the pricier side for your flat white fixes, but the coffee is good and most importantly – strong as hell!
Established Coffee is well established as one of the top coffee and brunch spots in the city centre – the coffee is amazing and it’s a great spot to kick back for a couple of hours at the weekend.
Contender for the tastiest flat white in the city, the Ormeau Road cafe also has a selection of tasty and healthy lunch options for those in the area.
Situated opposite The Empire bar on Botanic Avenue, Town Square has a pretty decent food menu but this cosmopolitan spot has a great coffee selection as well.
This East Belfast spot is known for its crazy good donuts and good coffee to wash it down with.
Just across from St Anne’s Cathedral in the Cathedral Quarter, Curated Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, brunch and coffee – all of which is made to a high standard.
We love the coffee at District, which has shops in Stranmillis, Lisburn Road and Ormeau Road. Also great for a brunch meet up with pals, plenty of healthy options on the menu as well.
Located on the Lockview Road in Stranmillis heading down towards Cutters Wharf, this tiny spot serves up amazing breakfast options, with both sweet and savoury well catered for. Grab a seat outside in the summer with a latte and you won’t be disappointed.
