Fine dining – The best high-end restaurants in Belfast

At Eat Out Belfast, fine dining isn’t really our thing. Generally we’d prefer a pint over champagne, and chicken wings over chateaubriand, but there’s always a need for special occasion dining.

Some of the best restaurants in the UK and Ireland are at our doorstep in Belfast, with world renowned chefs cooking up speciality tasing menus and Michelin star quality for years.

Here’s some of the top fine dining restaurants Belfast has to offer:

Muddlers Club

The Cathedral Quarter is home to many restaurants of all style and manner, but Muddlers Club is one that has people coming back over and over. Head chef and owner Gareth McCaughey has received plaudits aplenty for the Muddlers Club, no higher than the Michelin Star it was awarded in 2019.

Ox

With seasonal menus which garner critical acclaim from all directions, Ox is the third of Belfast’s Michelin stars and is well deserving of it. Meticulous presentation and highly attentive service are standard here, and a warm ambience is what you pay for here.

Eipic

Deanes Eipic is the top of the tree when it comes to the group of restaurants run by Belfast restaurant legend Michael Deane. Eipic gained a Michelin star just 18 months after it opened in 2015, one of very few to be granted the privilege in Northern Ireland.

Hadskis

Probably our favourite steaks we have had in Belfast have come from Hadski’s in the Cathedral Quarter. While not as upmarket as Muddlers Club or Ox, Hadskis really punches above its weight when ot comes to the price/quality ratio.

Saphyre

A totally unique experience, Saphyre is set in a former church and when you enter the front of this Lisburn Rod gem you know you are in for a treat. Tasting menus are the norm here and you will be paying a pretty penny, but the food is outstanding.

Six by Nico

Imported into Belfast after a successful stint in Edinburgh, Six by Nico has proved a hit with its concept menu changing every six weeks to echo a particular theme. There’s been New York, Catalonia, the Chippie and many more which have been wowing diners in their Cathedral Quarter venue.

Shu

This Lisburn Road favourite has been charming BT9ers for years with its elegant decor and excellent menus. The salted chilli squid is a firm favourite, as well as a number of classic fish dishes.
